What is NStQ?
NStQ (Northern Secwepemc te Qelmucw) is a treaty group representing the four Secwepemc communities of Xatśūll First Nation, Tsq̓éscen’ First Nation, Stswecem’c-Xget’tem First Nation, and Williams Lake First Nation. These communities are in the final stage of negotiations for their Tscentwécw Agreement with BC and Canada, which will return self-government and ongoing funding for governance, along with Treaty Settlement Lands and law-making authorities for those lands.
What does NSTS do?
The Northern Shuswap Treaty Society (NSTS) serves as a dedicated service organization committed to promoting the success of the four Northern Secwepemc te Qelmucw (NStQ) communities, while honoring and respecting their unique autonomy. In our role as a service organization, we help coordinate treaty responsibilities and foster collaboration among the four communities, ensuring a unified approach to mutual objectives.
